On 20th September 2025, J.D.S.G. College organized a condolence meeting with deep grief and heavy heart on the demise of our beloved heartthrob singer, Zubeen Garg. The programme commenced with the lighting of the earthen lamp by Prasanta Saikia, Vice-Principal of J.D.S.G. College, followed by a speech delivered by Sasanka Dhaval Saikia, Assistant Professor, Department of Political Science. In his memory, the song “Mayabini raatir bukut.” was sung by Dipankar Bori, a student of B.A. 5th Semester, accompanied by the heartfelt participation of the audience. The event paid tribute to his remarkable legacy, reflecting upon his invaluable contributions to Assamese music, culture, and identity. As a further mark of respect, and in recognition of his love for nature, the J.D.S.G. family planted trees, symbolizing his enduring impact and leaving a lasting memory for future generations.

September 22, 2025Vivekananda Kendra,Kanyakumari, a spiritually oriented service mission inspired by the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, organized a celebration of Universal Brotherhood Day. The event was held by its Bokakhat branch in Assam Prant, in active collaboration with J.D.S.G. College, Bokakhat. The day is observed to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s historic address at the World’s Parliament of Religions in Chicago in 1893, where he introduced the profound Indian philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga to the Western world and preached the timeless message of universal acceptance and harmony. The program commenced at 2:00 PM on the 19th of September,2025, at the premises of J.D.S.G. College, Bokakhat. The event began with a traditional lamp-lighting ceremony by Dr. Jayanta Gogoi, Principal J.D.S.G College, Bokakhat, symbolizing the dispelling of darkness and the arrival of knowledge and unity. Gita Medok, a representative from Vivekananda Kendra welcomed the guests, faculty, and students, outlining the significance of the day and the purpose of the gathering.Dr Sanjay Deka, Associate Professor, Darrang College, Tezpur graced the occasion as chief speaker on the occasion. Other guests present on the occasion are Sukhomoy Purkkayastha, Prasanta Saikia, Utpal Doley, Rachna Padi, Dr Chiranjib Dahal, Rekha Tamuly, Bhanu Barua, Sibaji Doley, Monikanta Kutum and Bitupan Pegu.
