NATIONAL CADETS CORPS (NCC) J.D.S.G. UNIT
The National Cadet Corps (NCC), India’s premier youth organization under the Ministry of Defence, has played a pivotal role in grooming the leaders and disciplined citizens of tomorrow. With great pride and a vision for holistic student development, our college officially established an NCC unit in the year 2019. The Raising date of the NCC unit in our college is 07.10.2019 with Trops No. D/12 PL. The unit was sanctioned with an initial enrollment capacity of 64 cadets, comprising only boys Cadets. But in the year 2025 enrollment capacity has increased to 160 cadets, comprising both Boys and Girls Cadets. The initiative to establish the NCC unit was taken with the support of the college management and in coordination with the 12 ASSAM BN NCC under the Jorhat Group HQ. The Associate NCC Officer (ANO) of the college is Lieutenant Mintu Tokbi, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics.

The primary objective behind setting up the NCC unit was to:
-> Instill Discipline and Leadership qualities among Students.
-> Promote a sense of patriotism and service to the Nation.
-> Provide basic Military Training and Adventure Exposure.
-> Encourage youth participation in Community Development and National Integration.
Enrollment and Training:
The response from students was overwhelmingly positive. After a rigorous selection process based on Physical fitness, Discipline, and Commitment, cadets were enrolled and began their journey under the guidance of Associate NCC Officer (ANO) and the supervising officers from the Battalion.
Cadets undergo regular Parade training, Physical fitness sessions, Drill practices, and Theoretical classes on subjects like Weapon training, Map reading, Civil defence, and First aid. The training schedule is designed not only to build physical endurance but also to inculcate teamwork and time management.
Major Activities Conducted:
Since its inception, the NCC unit has actively participated in a variety of activities, both within and outside the college campus. Some of the notable ones include:
1. Independence Day and Republic Day Celebrations:
Cadets took part in the ceremonial parade during both Independence Day and Republic Day, showcasing their drill skills and honoring the National Flag with pride and respect.
2. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan:
In line with the government’s initiative, the cadets carried out multiple cleanliness drives within the campus and in nearby areas, spreading awareness about hygiene and environmental responsibility.
3. Tree Plantation Drive:
Cadets actively participated in a plantation drive organized during One Cadet one tree, contributing to environmental conservation by planting over 100 samplings around the college premises.
4. Blood Donation Camp:
The NCC unit collaborated with Bokakhat Civil hospitals to organize a successful blood donation camp, where cadets volunteered and motivated others to participate.
5. Annual Training Camp (ATC) Participation:
Selected cadets represented our college at the Annual Training Camp, where they received advanced training, participated in Inter-College competitions, and interacted with cadets from other institutions.
6. Awareness Rallies and Campaigns:
To contribute to social causes, cadets organized and participated in awareness rallies on road safety, anti-drug campaigns, and voter awareness drives.
7. All India Trekking Camp (AITC) Participation:
ANO Lieutenant Mintu Tokbi and 5 Cadets from our college has participate all India Trekking Camp held at Rajgir, Bihar from 18 to 25 October 2024.
8. Self-Defense and First Aid Workshops:
Special workshops were conducted to teach cadets basic Self-defense techniques and first aid procedures, enhancing their readiness in emergency situations.
Achievements and Recognition:
Our cadets have already begun to make their mark. UO Rajat Pegu participated RDC 2026 at New Delhi, UO Chandiram Doley and Cadet Bolu Pegu participated IMA attachment camp at Dehradun on December 2025, UO Prince Doley and Cadet Dhonuram Pegu were selected for higher-level camps such as the AISC (All India Shooting Camp) and TSC (Thal Sainik Camp) selections. Their dedication and performance have brought pride to our institution. ANO Lieutenant Mintu Tokbi got the ADG Medal of Excellence from Additional Director General NCC North Easter Region in the year 2023 for the excellence performance in the NCC activity and also awarded best ANO from Assam state by Ministry of Sports & Youth Welfare Govt. of Assam in the year 2024. Total Number of “B” & “C” Certificate holder Cadets of our college has 91 & 37 respectively and 75 cadets where get various jobs in Indian Army, Assam Police & Assam forest Department etc.
Looking Ahead:
The NCC unit aims to expand further in the coming years, increasing cadet strength and introducing more specialized training. Plans are underway to send cadets to National camps, and eventually, to the Republic Day Camp in Delhi, representing both the college and the state.
Conclusion:
The establishment of the NCC unit has not only enriched the college environment but has also offered students a platform to grow into confident, responsible, and patriotic citizens. Through discipline, unity, and service, our NCC cadets are ready to serve the Nation — not just in uniform, but in spirit.
OFFICE 74 ASSAM GIRL’S (I) COY NCC J.D.S.G COLLEGE
(A total of 50 girls have been enrolled in the NCC for the year 2025.)
J.D.S.G College, Bokakhat has an NCC Boys unit, 12 Assam (I) COY NCC, Golaghat. The raising day of the NCC Unit in the college is 10.10.2019. The total strength of the unit is 65. Mr. Mintu Tokbi, Assistant Professor, Department of Economics is the CTO of the NCC Unit of JDSG College.
The College has also applied for a Girls’ NCC unit to the respective authority, the process of which is going on and soon to be completed.
