October 10, 2026REPORT ON ROAD SAFETY AWARENESS PROGRAMME

A Road Safety Awareness Programme was organised at JDSG College, Bokakhat, on 5 October 2026 with the objective of creating awareness among students about road safety, traffic rules, pedestrian safety, and responsible behaviour on the road. The programme was attended by several distinguished personalities from the Bokakhat Co-district, along with the Hon’ble Principal, Vice-Principal, IQAC Coordinator, Academic In-charge, faculty members, and students of the college.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Jayanta Gogoi, Hon’ble Principal, JDSG College. He warmly welcomed all the distinguished guests and participants and highlighted the objectives and significance of organising the programme. He emphasised the importance of developing awareness and responsible road behaviour among students, particularly as young people are frequent users of roads and vehicles.
Mr. Subhajit Khound, Assistant Commissioner, Bokakhat Co-district, addressed the gathering and spoke about the importance of road safety awareness among students. He encouraged the students to strictly follow traffic rules, remain alert while travelling, and understand their responsibilities as responsible citizens.
Mr. Olenda Choudhury, Excise Inspector, Bokakhat Co-district, also addressed the gathering and delivered an informative speech on road safety. He highlighted the importance of responsible behaviour and adherence to safety measures while using roads.
Following this, Shri Khirod Saikia, AEI, Golaghat, delivered a valuable speech on road safety. He discussed various causes of road accidents, including careless driving, overspeeding, violation of traffic rules, distracted driving, and lack of awareness. He further explained several preventive measures that can help reduce road accidents and stressed the importance of disciplined and responsible behaviour on the road.
Shri Parag Jyoti Buragohain, Officer-in-Charge, Bokakhat Police Station, also addressed the students and created awareness about road safety and traffic regulations. He advised the students to remain cautious while using roads and encouraged the college fraternity to send a group of students for practical learning about road safety measures and traffic management.
Thereafter, Smt. Tulumoni Phukan and Shri Manik Doley, Junior Engineer, PWD, delivered their valuable speeches. They particularly advised the students to exercise extra caution while travelling through under-construction roads, where unexpected hazards may arise. They also highlighted the importance of using footpaths wherever available and following safe pedestrian practices.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Shri Kabir Barhoi, Assistant Professor, JDSG college.He expressed his sincere gratitude to all the distinguished guests, the Principal, Vice-Principal, IQAC Coordinator, Academic In-charge, college authorities, faculty members, and students for their valuable participation, cooperation, and support in making the programme successful.
