Organized by the Department of English
The Department of English successfully organized a Students’ Seminar on the theme of Indian Knowledge System (IKS) on the 31st of March, 2026, with the objective of encouraging students to explore and engage with classical Indian texts and intellectual traditions.
Students actively participated in the seminar by presenting papers on a variety of classical texts, including the Mahabharata, Parijata Harana, Abhigyanam Shakuntalam, and Mricchakatika. The seminar provided a vibrant academic platform for students to present their ideas and interpretations of these significant works from Indian literature.
The seminar was graced by the presence of the Principal, Dr. Jayanta Gogoi, who delivered an insightful speech emphasizing the relevance and importance of the Indian Knowledge System in the present context. The address underscored the need to integrate traditional knowledge with modern education to foster holistic learning and cultural awareness among students.
Dr. Chiranjib Dahal, Head of the Department of History, served as the External Evaluator for the seminar. He provided valuable feedback on the students’ presentations, appreciating their analytical approach and encouraging further academic exploration in the field of Indian knowledge traditions.
The faculty members of the department actively guided the students and encouraged meaningful interaction and academic discussion throughout the seminar.
Overall, the seminar proved to be an enriching academic exercise, fostering critical thinking, research skills, and a deeper appreciation of India’s rich intellectual heritage among students.
