Film-Screening by Gender Champions Club

The Gender Champions Club, JDSG College, Bokakhat organised a short film screening program on the occasion of International Women’s Day in the college. Three thought-provoking films based on women related issues were screened today. ‘Juice’ a short film by the award winning director, Neeraj Ghaywan explores the theme of gender inequality and is a commentary on how women are treated irrespective of their social strata. The other two short films that were screened are- ‘Uruli’ and ‘Weeping Woman’ both Assamese movies highlighting domestic violence and the deeply rooted gender bias respectively. After the screening, an interactive session was organised where Monsumi Sarma, nodal teacher, Gender Champions Club talked about the portrayal of women in the movies. The students also expressed their opinions regarding the issues pertaining to women.
